The Marist volleyball team lost to the University of Texas - El Paso this afternoon in its second match at the Four Points Titan Volleyball Classic at Cal State Fullerton. After falling 30-17 and 30-19 in the first two games of the match, Marist rallied but lost the deciding game 30-28. Junior Kim McEathron (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) had a team-high 16 digs and six kills.
The Red Foxes' defense was solid, matching up evenly with 43 kills to the Miners' 47. Sophomore Christy Lukes (Mesa, Ariz.) also had six kills on the day to pace the offense. Senior setter Meghan Cochrane (Placentia, Calif.) made her first appearance of the year following preseason surgery. Cochrane, who has quickly worked her way back into the Marist lineup, recorded six assists and three digs in her home state.
With the win, UTEP moved to 6-0 on the season while Marist falls to 0-4. Coach Hutton's squad will be back in action this evening when it takes on the University of Missouri-Kansas City in the final match of the tournament.
