NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Marist men's tennis team closed out play at the Yale Men's Tennis Invitational on Sunday. The Red Foxes dropped a match to Yale by a score of 9-3, and fell to Stony Brook, 5-4.

The Red Foxes played a total of three matches on the weekend, as they defeated Fairleigh Dickinson 9-3 on Saturday.

“It was a good weekend with a lot of play for our entire team,” Head Coach Tim Smith said. “Most of the guys got at least five matches in, and this is what we need to prepare us for the MAAC that is really about six weeks away. Kudos to Joseph Dube and Dylan Fletcher, who both won five matches this weekend.”

Against Yale, eight singles matches and four doubles matches were contested. Dube (fourth singles) and Fletcher (eighth singles) recorded victories, while the fourth doubles tandem of Dube and Jan Dernic also prevailed.

Marist won four of seven singles matches against Stony Brook. The Red Foxes received straight-set wins from Rudolf Kurz (second singles), Dube (third singles), Dernic (sixth singles) and Fletcher (seventh singles). Kurz and Fletcher teamed for a win at second doubles, but Stony Brook won the first and third doubles matches to take the doubles point. A 10-point tiebreaker was then held, which Stony Brook captured to win the match.
