Marist Graduate Myers Shining For Seahawks

Kicker Has Displayed Accuracy & Power For First-Place Seattle

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – As the Seattle Seahawks have reached the midpoint of the 2020 National Football League season, Marist College graduate Jason Myers has been a significant part of the team's success.

Myers is in his sixth season in the NFL, and the 2020 season is shaping up as one of his finest. He is among the league leaders in the following categories:

  • 1st, extra point conversions – 33 (in 34 attempts)
  • 7th, kickoff average – 63.9 yards
  • Tied for 7th, touchbacks – 34

Myers' accuracy has matched his leg strength. He has converted all seven of his field goal attempts this season. All of his tries have been from at least 40 yards away, with a long of 55 yards. Dating back to last season, Myers has made 18 consecutive field goals in regular-season play.

The Seahawks are 6-2 this season, which leads the NFC West and is tied for the best record in the conference.

Myers is in his second season with Seattle after having signed a multi-year contract with the Seahawks in March 2019. Last season, he became the first Marist football player to take part in an NFL playoff game victory when the Seahawks defeated the Philadelphia Eagles, 17-9, in the Wild Card Round. He finished the 2019 regular season with 59 touchbacks and 109 points scored, which ranked sixth and 13th in the NFL, respectively. On Nov. 11, his 42-yard field goal as time expired gave Seattle a 27-24 win at previously undefeated San Francisco on Monday Night Football.

Myers' NFL journey began with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2015. In 2018, he joined the New York Jets, and became the first Marist football player to appear in the Pro Bowl.

At Marist, Myers was the Red Foxes' primary placekicker and kickoff specialist for all four years of his career (2009-12). He also took on punting duties in his senior season. At the time of his graduation, Myers held the program record for longest field goal and most points by a kicker.

Myers is one of two Marist football players to see action in the NFL. Terrence Fede was selected in the seventh round of the 2014 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins. Fede played for Miami from 2014-17, and was in preseason camp with the Buffalo Bills in 2018 and New York Giants in 2019.
