POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Jordan Newblatt and Morgan Owens of the Marist volleyball program were named CoSIDA Academic All-District, the organization announced Thursday afternoon. 
 
The 2021 Academic All-District awards, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field or court and in the classroom. To be eligible student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve at their current institution with a cumulative 3.30 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
 
Newblatt has had a great season on and off the court for the Red Foxes, ranking third in kills per set and points per set in the conference. She was also awarded as MAAC Player of the Week twice this year and Sports Imports/American Volleyball Coaches Association National Player of the Week in October. The Business Administration major was named to the Dean's List in both semesters as a freshman. She was named to the All-MAAC First Team and All-Academic Team earlier today. 
 
Owens is currently ranked fifth in digs per game in the conference and has been awarded four Libero of the Week awards this season. The Business Administration major has also excelled in the classroom, by being listed to the Dean's List six previous semesters and MAAC Student-Athlete of the week in October. She was named to the MAAC All-Academic Team for the third time in her career earlier today. 
 
Marist is the only school in CoSIDA District 1 to have two selections to the seven-member team.
 
Newblatt, Owens, and the third-seeded Red Foxes are facing #6 Quinnipiac in the first round of the MAAC Championship this Friday at 8 p.m. The match will be carried live on ESPN+.
