The Marist Athletics Department continues with its summer series "Ten Question Timeout." The next student-athlete to be interviewed is Krystian Witkowski. A rising junior, Witkowski was selected Third Team All-Region by the NSCAA following the 2009 season. He was also a First Team All-MAAC choice.
1. My favorite athletic memory at Marist is...
- During a home game against Oregon State. It was my first time playing a big-name school and I was really nervous. Within the first two minutes of the game, we won a free kick close to the edge of the box. The whistle blew - I curved the ball into the top left corner of the goal! I went crazy. I ran towards our bench and jumped into the stands. It was a great feeling.
2. The most interesting thing I have done this summer is...
- I was lucky enough to attend the soccer match between the Chicago Fire and Italian power house A.C Milan. It was the first match I was able to see Ronaldinho and Pato, two players I love to watch on T.V.
3. I chose Marist because...
- After meeting with the coaching staff and visiting the school, I felt it was a great place to earn a degree and play sports.
4. The song I am most embarrassed to admit I have on my iPod is...
Natasha Bedingfield "The Rest is Still Unwritten." My teammate Fred Osborne insisted that it pumps him up for games, so I thought I would give it a try.
5. My favorite sports team/athlete is...
- Ronaldo Luis Nasario de lima.
6. If you could have dinner with three people (alive or dead) they would be...
7. If you could play another sport at Marist, it would be...
- Basketball is indoors so I wouldn't have to worry about the weather. It is also a great atmosphere to play in when the fans are so close to the court like at the McCann Center.
8. If you were deserted on an island and could have only three items with you, I would pick...
- A paddle, a raft, and a GPS.
9. My goal for next year is...
- It would be an amazing accomplishment if the men's soccer team could clinch a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship. It has always been a dream of mine to play in the NCAA tournament.
10. My plans after Marist are...
- Just playing it by ear. I would love to pursue soccer professionally, but if that doesn't work out I would like to attend law school.
