TROY, N.Y. - The Marist water polo team played against another pair of ranked opponents on Saturday dropping decisions to #16 Hartwick and #11 Indiana.
In the first game, the Red Foxes fell to Hartwick for the second time in a week 14-6. Alison Hamby (Sacramento, Calif.) had a two goals to lead the way.
The Red Foxes scored four goals in the second quarter to close within one at 5-4 at halftime, including tying the score at four after a goal by Yuriria Chavez (Chicago, Ill.). Hartwick however, exploded for nine goals in the second half to pull away.
In their second game, Jaclyn Puccino (San Diego, Calif.) had two goals as Marist went up against a good Indiana goaltender, falling 9-3. Mackenzie Maynes (Newcastle, Wash.) also scored to provide the only offense.
Rebecca Thomas (Cape Town, South Africa) played both games in goal for the Red Foxes, making 30 saves and registering an assist against Hartwick.
The team is back in action in two weekends when they will host the Marist Invite March 9-11, at the McCann Center.
