BUFFALO, N.Y. – Marist's 800-yard freestyle relay team concluded the first day of the 2015 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships on a high note, as all four Red Fox swimmers clocked in at personal best times in their legs to finish in second place. Through the first two events, Marist is in third place with 62 points.

The squad's time of 6:40.09 shattered the school record of 6:46.47 set at last year's MAAC Championship meet. Sophomore Ryan Murphy (New Fairfield, Conn.) surpassed the NCAA B qualifying standard after swimming the opening leg in 1:37.49. The senior trio of Spencer Kelley (Weston, Conn.), Jason Ruddy (Lake Katrine, N.Y.) and Bill Drennen (Collegeville, Pa.) closed out the race.

Senior Dylan Cummings (Midland Park, N.J.) lead off for the fifth place 200-yard medley relay team and completed his leg in a personal best 23.11 seconds. Ruddy, sophomore Alexander Cassel (East Greenville, Pa.) and senior John Spitzer (Fairport, N.Y.) capped the event for the Red Foxes, who finished in 1:32.26

Day Two of the MAAC Championships will begin at 10 a.m. tomorrow with the 500-yard freestyle preliminaries. Preliminaries for the 3-meter dive will also take place during the first session.
