Awaiting Marist in the championship game was Fairfield, the one blemish on an otherwise perfect non-conference record. The Red Foxes regrouped after the half and rattled off six unanswered goals over the course of 20 minutes.

The defense was dominant throughout the second half. Fairfield would score a goal with 46 seconds left to come within one of Marist but the Stags were unable to equalize. Burkard only faced 11 shots in the second have thanks to an impressive defensive effort by the Red Foxes. After the game, Burkhard was named the tournament MVP. Diener, Liz Falco, Stephanie Garland and Nicole Musto were named to the All-Tournament team. Another key part of the success for this team was current head coach Jessica (O'Brien) Wilkinson, who finished the weekend with a goal, a ground ball and three draw controls.

Marist took on Colgate in an NCAA play in game on May 3rd, 2008. The Red Foxes trailed by six goals with 17 minutes left but came short of a comeback and fell to Colgate 19-18. Kate Noftsker and Jessica Wilkinson each scored four goals in the game.
